Marriage

Waiting, Watching and Listening

We all face waiting. I for one am not fond of waiting. I heard this statement the other day and it stirred my thinking, "Life is consists a lot of hurrying up and waiting." I have waited: - For my driver's license and graduating high school. - To finish high school and college. - To marry wife, Cassidy. - To complete seminary. - To hold my son Micah in my arms on September 4th, 2012.

Life consists a lot of waiting. Could it be that this is all part of God's plan? He is more interested in who we are becoming through life than arriving at all of our preconceived plans.

When you feel like there are more questions than answers, join me in becoming more dependent upon the One who knows. Seek His face. When we come to the end of our independent, self-sustaining, American ingenuity, we find that we all NEED someone outside of ourselves. Thankfully, Jesus is patient. He is long-suffering. He is slow to anger, quick to forgive and completely faithful.

When you and I are waiting, watching and listening, turn your eyes to the Planner of our future. Look around and take it in. Glimpses of pain lead to growth that God's grace sustains.

Wait. Pray. Seek. But at the end of the day, rest in the arms of Jesus who is never too far out of reach.

The 5 Best Years of My Life

cassidy-weddingI am blessed beyond what I deserve! I have had the time of my life the past five years. Why you ask?

I'm married to the love of my life, Cassidy! She is my encourager, team-mate in ministry, and mother to Micah. As time has passed, I look back with gratitude that God's grace was shown by giving Cassidy to me as my wife. The woman of my dreams said, "I do" on June 14th, 2008 in Ocala, Florida. We were engaged four months earlier on a cool day in February (Valentine's day to be exact).

She is a great wife AND and a loving mother to Micah. She is a gift from God!

I wanted to document and share past anniversaries through pictures!

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful, beautiful wife Cassidy!

1st Anniversary - Panama City Beach, Florida (deep-sea fishing!) 1-year-anniversary

2nd Anniversary - Orlando trip to visit Sea World 2-year-anniversary

3rd Anniversary - Hilton Head Island, SC hiltonhead-collage

4th Anniversary - Orlando, FL to visit Epcot at Disney (Cassidy was 7 months pregnant) 4-year-anniversary

Currently, we are celebrating our 5th Anniversary by spending the day in Greenville, SC together!

I look forward to many more years together!

The Reason to Rest

6302_539870194516_614996975_nWe live in a fast-paced culture. Busy schedules and overloaded family lives are one of the enemies subtle ways to distract us. We have so much technology at our fingertips. It is hard to find an "on" and "off" switch and rest. This week I am on vacation with my family. My goal is to unplug and rest.

I am not the best at unplugging and resting. If I can't slow down and rest, it reveals my heart. If you relate to me and you are in ministry, I encourage you to find moments to unplug and rest in God.

Breathe. Think about God and praise Him. Focus on your family. Read encouraging books. Read a devotional. Read a verse and meditate on it.

God rested on the seventh day after creation. If He made it a priority, how much more should we unplug and rest in His love?
