School is right around the corner! Some are pumped and others are bummed...well... I'm done with college so I'm not too worried about going to class, but one thing I do continually think about is the way students are educated in today's culture.

I was told in my first year of college (community college) by older students that I had to learn how to study for each professor...some were harder than others, etc. What I came to find out was, I studied a sheet of paper with notes (that sometimes were against God's Word) and had to re-write them onto a test...Once I got done with the test, I was out of there!!!!

I have to ask a question....Was I truly learning?

In transition, how are we training people in God's Word? I just do not want to leave students to only look at God's Word with a "knowledge-only" approach. Growing up in church (I was a preacher's-kid) I saw many people that knew many verses in the Bible. That was awesome! The only question I had was, what did the verse mean? Many times I received a blank stare. I believe there are many blank stares today from people sitting in churches across America that when the question, "why" or "what does it mean?" is asked. Have we become a bi-product of a system of thought that says, "learn this study guide, do a memory dump on the test and if you get an A, then you are SMART!" Interesting...

The key word for the book of Proverbs is "wisdom." Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

My passion is to see students and families truly understand God's Word and become wise in their lifestyles based up on it.

Seek God's wisdom...

Education is a great thing but without learning God's Word and understanding it, we are missing out on the heart of God and His truth.
